This weekend, Neil Jordan’s Ondine has won a Golden Goblet, Asia’s equivalent of the Oscars, at the Shanghai International Film Festival.

Ondine, which picked up the Goblet for Best Cinematography, stars Colin Farrell, Stephen Rea and Alicja Bachleda. It tells the story of an Irish fisherman who catches a beautiful and mysterious creature in his net.

Zonad was one of the 13 Irish features to be screened, and received quite a bit of media attention at the festival.

The special programme of Irish features and shorts will also screen at the Beijing International Movie Festival this month, and will run from 7–30 June.
