Kinsale Arts Week to host ‘Focus on Screen Dance’

As part of the Kinsale Arts Week 2010, Focus on Screen Dance will see the Municipal Hall host a number of events for those with an interest in both dance and film.

The showings will kick off on the 13th July with a double bill of Screen Dance, an artistic genre where choreography and film reside together. Forward Motion, a collection of outstanding British dance films, will be followed by four films from RTÉ’s Dance on the Box. Later in the evening a panel of screen dance experts will explore the unique artform through discussion.

The 14th July will see a day long professional development workshop for filmmakers and dancers which will offer an introduction to the medium of Screen Dance.

That evening, high profile dance makers will introduce films which have inspired their practice. This includes Akram Khan introducing Lloyd Newson’s multi-award winning The Cost of Living and Russell Maliphant choosing Chris Cunningham’s video for Portishead’s Only You.

Tickets are €12 for 2 events, €8 for 1 event
