This Thursday 13th May Magic Lantern Film Society has a real gem in store for its viewers. As part of their regular screenings on Thursday nights at the Nerve Centre on Magazine Street, the modern silent film La Antena will be shown. The film will commence at 7.00 pm sharp.
La Antena revolves around a city without a voice ruled by Mr. TV. He has taken the inhabitants voices and is in total control of all spoken words and images through his TV. But as he secretly works on a hypnotizing device to control all the citizens’ minds a TV repairman flees to an old TV antenna in the mountains in order to halt Mr. TV’s evil plans. A completely unique take on silent cinema, La Antena is a feast for the eye. The film is seen as homage to German expressionism and is filled with unique detail that catches the eye. Interwoven in the plot, the film brings into question the role that the media plays in all our lives, something which will give the audience food for thought.
Cost is £3 at the door on the night. For more information you can drop into the Nerve Centre and pick up a copy of their current programme. You can also contact Alessandro Negrini on 07821130533.
