Tonight is Cancelled is screening at 1pm on Sunday 25th April in the IFI as part of IFI Ireland on Sunday. This is an opportunity for Dublin audiences to see the first feature from talented Irish director Brendan Grant. Produced by Fastnet Films, it is the first Irish-Kosovan co-production.
An Irish filmmaker (Mark O’Halloran) travels to battle-scarred Kosovo to tell the love story of a young man kidnapped during the war and the girl he left behind. As he attempts to get his film off the ground, the decision to cast the unwilling lovers as themselves blurs the boundary between reality and fiction. This beautifully elliptical drama, told with great visual flair, marks the debut of a significant new Irish talent.
IFI Ireland on Sunday is the IFI’s monthly programme of screenings which showcases new fiction and documentary works and provides a space for audiences to engage with the filmmakers.
Producer Macdara Kelleher will be present for a post-screening Q&A.
Tickets can be booked at the IFI Box Office, on 01 679 3447, or online here.
