‘Seaview’ to screen on TG4
This Sunday (10th January) the IFTA-nominated Seaview will have its Irish broadcast premier, airing on TG4 at 12.35 am.
Over a three-year period, filmmakers Nicky Gogan and Paul Rowley, and sound artist Dennis McNulty spent time living at Mosney, formerly a Butlin’s Holiday Camp, gaining unprecedented insight into the lives of this global village of displaced people. The film chronicles the static lives of the centre’s occupants as they wait, in some cases for years, for the government to process their claims. The film is a collaboration between award-winning artist Paul Rowley, and Darklight Festival director Nicky Gogan. It is the debut film from production company Still Films.
After its premiere at the Berlin Film Festival and a very successful tour of the festival circuit, Seaview was nominated for an IFTA in the Best Documentary category, 2009. This innovative film about asylum seekers living in a former Butlin’s holiday camp at Mosney, Ireland, also had a theatrical release in Germany.
