Commenting on the round, Jo Schofield, Development Executive at the IPU in RTÉ said ‘It’s fantastic to see the RTÉ/Filmbase short film award go from strength to strength as it continues to support new and emerging filmmakers. This shortlist was particularly impressive this year and I am delighted with the three teams selected in this round. The winning films promise a range of talent and diversity and I look forward to seeing the final results.’
Alan Fitzpatrick, Filmbase MD added ‘Filmbase is delighted to see such a hunger for short filmmaking and is keen to see more new talent come to the fore in the rounds to come. We’re extremely proud that this scheme has continued to support the development of filmmakers’ careers at such a crucial stage and are delighted to say that the latest batch of shorts to come through the scheme are already clocking up festival screenings at home and abroad. We expect the latest three shorts to continue this trend in the coming year.’
